Five maintenance techniques for succulents in spring

Plant care in spring is very important! Most indoor plants are dormant in winter, and spring is the beginning of their active growing season. For some people, this may be a difficult change. Therefore, helping plants complete the seasonal transition is the first thing.

The temperature gradually rises. The surviving succulents survived a cold winter. Although the temperature difference between different places is still relatively large, but after the beginning of spring, it will usher in a season conducive to the growth of meat. Therefore, if you are a friend who grows succulents and do something for the growth of the plant, you can start from the following points.

  1. Control the environment

If succulents are kept indoors, don’t rush to expose them. Prevention of frostbite is very important. For succulents grown in shanty towns, you need to pay attention to ventilation, especially when the temperature rises rapidly at noon and there is a lot of water vapor.

  1. Watering control

For winter-type succulents, you can choose to water at noon when the weather is clear, while for summer-type succulents, you need to reduce the amount of watering. For example, Lithops lesliei (N.E. Br.) N.E. Br. will begin to flake in a warm environment. At this time, you can completely cut off the water to promote buds to germinate.

If it is a succulent plant that is often preserved outdoors, then the succulent plant has basically adapted to the local climate and temperature changes and will not cause much impact, but it is necessary to avoid the arrival of the rainy season and take measures to avoid rain. The succulent plants of Crassulaceae can be raised in the open air, and the meat raised in the open air is particularly beautiful.

Although the light is not strong at this time, please avoid pouring water into the center of the leaves when watering. Meat quality and black rot are usually caused by long-term accumulation of water.

  1. Provide enough light

If you put the succulents on the balcony, the temperature during the spring day will slowly rise. When there is sunlight, try to provide enough light to allow succulents to get enough sunlight. When the sun rises during the day, you can open the windows to let the sun get more fleshy, especially the noon sun, please don’t miss it.

Provide enough light, strictly control the amount of water, and avoid rain. Normally, there is no need to fertilize succulents.

In addition to the above points, you can also prepare some materials, such as flower pots and culture media. Because in March, you can consider replacing some succulent plant pots. Prepare materials in advance and prepare early to avoid rushing preparations in March.

  1. Selection of flower pots

For new flower pots, you can choose clay pots, plastic pots, purple clay pots, porcelain pots, concrete flower pots, etc. In planters made of these materials, clay pots have good air permeability and are very cheap, but the disadvantage is that they are very fragile. There are many types of plastic basins, the colors are very gorgeous, but the texture is not particularly good, and it is easy to rot..

Porcelain basins are very decorative, but have poor air permeability. The concrete planter has good air permeability and diversified styles and colors. It is one of the more common flower pots. If you want to replace the flower pots for the large old piles, you can choose a deeper flower pot, if you want to make a platter of flower pots, you can choose a shallower large flower pot. As for the choice of materials, you can choose according to your preferences. There are good and bad pots of various materials. The key depends on your own preferences and pursuits.

  1. Material selection

You can prepare something at home to care for the succulents in the pot. The soil for growing succulents needs a certain degree of granularity, is loose and air-permeable, well-drained, and contains a certain amount of decay, a small amount of calcium, and is neutral or weakly acidic. Therefore, the prepared materials include peat soil, peat, medical stones, sand, perlite, plant stones, etc., which can be prepared according to your own conditions, instead of all preparations.

The ratio of material preparation can be based on such a ratio. For example, jade dew, jade fan and other succulents, the required particles account for a large proportion. For sedum varieties, peat soil and granular soil can be selected according to the ratio of 1:1 or 2:1.

In addition to flower pots and materials, you can also prepare some fertilizer. After all, as the succulent growing season is ushering in, nutrition is essential.

Throughout the spring, please implement the above points and don’t worry about the succulents not growing well. Whether succulents can grow fuller depends on whether they are ready to do enough. It must be clear that opportunities are reserved for those who are prepared.
